For more than six decades, Dr. David G. Nathan has shaped the field of hematology as a pioneering physician-scientist, educator, and leader. Dr. Nathan’s visionary research led to transformative advances in the understanding and treatment of inherited blood disorders, particularly thalassemia and sickle cell anemia. As Physician-in-Chief of Boston Children’s Hospital and President of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Dr. Nathan not only changed the trajectory of patient care but also mentored generations of hematologists, leaving an indelible mark on the future of medicine. The recipient of the National Medal of Science and countless other honors, Dr. Nathan is recognized worldwide for his lifelong commitment to scientific discovery and compassionate care.
