**What inspires or motivates you in your role at HMS/HSDM?**
What motivates me as a data analyst and programmer in the Office for Faculty Affairs is the work I do: making data sets of our faculty, running statistical models to describe them, perhaps finding associations and looking at breakdowns by ethnicity, gender, promotion times, type of departments, etc. I enjoy setting up databases we use for the day to day tracking of the promotion processes. And, it motivates me to think my work may help in the promotions of the incredibly accomplished faculty compromising HMS/HSDM.

**What is the significance of the object you brought with your to the photo shoot?**
I decided to wear a tie made by Mayan Indians in Guatemala, my country of origin. As a young adult I witnessed health inequality and saw how a U.S. tropical diseases unit in Guatemala helped alleviate the burden of disease through research. It it fortunate to work for an institution whose mission is to alleviate human suffering caused by a disease.
