World Mental Health Day 2026: Reception & Fireside Chat

Please join Dr. S. Abbas Shobeiri and Dr. Vikram Patel for a fireside conversation inspired by this year’s World Mental Health Day theme, "Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change." Together, they will explore trauma and healing, the importance of lived experience, and how storytelling and art can help us approach mental health differently.
- 5 - 6pm: Reception and guided tour of the Do You See Me exhibition
- 6 - 7pm: Fireside conversation with Dr. Shobeiri and Dr. Patel
Light refreshments will be served, and copies of Dr. Shobeiri's brand new exhibition book, "Do You See Me," will be available for purchase and signing.

Dr. S. Abbas Shobeiri is Division Chief of Benign Gynecology and Director of the Pelvic Floor Program at Inova Health System, and the featured artist of the current art exhibition "Do You See Me? Paintings of Postpartum Trauma and Healing" at Countway Library.
Dr. Vikram Patel is Paul Farmer Professor and Chair of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
