25-26 CFF Fellow Hosts BHCC Students on Campus
Over the course of his fellowship, Commonwealth Fund Fellow Pablo da Silva, MD, MPH (pictured, bottom left) has worked closely with Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) students with a healthcare and science concentration and their professors. Dr. da Silva holds a deep professional and personal commitment to expand opportunities in medicine for underserved students, and improve access to high-quality health services in under resourced communities through policy and clinical practice.
In early April, Dr. da Silva partnered with OCCE to host eighteen BHCC students on campus, accompanied by their professor to learn about HMS, the resources of the HMS Countway Library and hear from career panel of physicians and research scientists, clinicians and public health professionals from the Harvard Longwood Community. Panelist spoke about their careers and provided insight on managing challenges in reaching their career goals. HMS medical student, Christian Rivera also contributed to share his educational and career journey and gave a ‘student’s eye view’ of the campus. BHCC students found the visit highly informative and motivating.
