Randolph High School Youth Health Advisory Council visits HMS
As part of the collaborative INSPIRE project, OCCE hosted students from Randolph High School Youth Health Advisory Council at HMS for an afternoon of enrichment activities and a career panel. This grant funded project is led by the Institute of Health Equity Research, Evaluation and Policy, Inc and the MassLeague of Community Health Centers, with OCCE as the Harvard partner.
Student visitors from 9-12 grade explored the basics of anatomy using Countway Library’s Anatomage Table and were introduced to the power of visual health communication through titles from Countway’s Graphic Medicine collection. They were also guided in how to develop their own ‘zine’.
The career panel included HMS faculty, HMS and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health graduate and postdoc students and alumnae, and Isabella Daneri of OCCE’s Project Success program. Randolph High students and their teachers were deeply appreciative of the opportunity and were inspired by learning about the many paths to careers in health and science.
