In what ways do you feel you contribute to the Harvard community?
Along with my team, l appreciate my role in shaping the institution by helping recruit diverse and talented staff who drive the day-to-day operations. Our contributions ensure that Harvard Medical School is supported by individuals whose skills align with our mission of excellence in healthcare, research, and education. Through collaborations with leaders and stakeholders across the institution, it feels great and honorable to know that we play a part in contributing to the short and long-term goals of medical education and community building within Harvard.

Are there activities outside of your job at Harvard that you feel enrich or inform who you are as an individual at Harvard?
It may sound odd initially, but engaging in landscaping work at home has allowed me to cultivate patience, creativity, and attention to detail. These qualities have naturally carried over into my professional life at Harvard. I learned that transforming a targeted outdoor area requires planning, vision, and the ability to nurture growth, much like recruiting talent and shaping teams. Landscaping for me also fosters mindfulness and resilience, offering balance to the demands of my work. I recharge by stepping away from daily responsibilities and reconnecting with nature, allowing me to return to work with renewed focus and a deeper sense of fulfillment.

What is the significance of the outfit you are wearing in the photo shoot?
The significance of the outfit I am wearing lies in its connection to my roots. Wearing my traditional Nigerian kaftan and hat is a statement of pride in my Hausa heritage. It reflects the importance of staying grounded in who I am, even as I have adapted to life in a different part of the world. Professionally, it's a symbol of authenticity, reminding me that I don't have to leave any part of myself behind in a world that often pressures us to assimilate. I wear it to express my identity and as a compliment to the vibrant Harvard community that continues to shape my journey.
