Angela Alberti

In what ways do you feel you contribute to the Harvard community?
I truly enjoy having the opportunity to meet with people across campus and at our clinical affiliates.
I've been lucky enough to meet students in classrooms, Drain surgeons in the operating room, visit with patients during clinical exams and in the hospital, and I've even paid my respects to the subjects in the anatomy labs. I've talked with everyone from genetics pioneers, to facilities managers, and a Nobel Peace Prize recipient.
My hope is that during each interaction, I bring a sense of excitement and appreciation in being a part of this community, and that I treat everyone with kindness and respect. think that's the foundation of building a good work community.
 

Are there activities outside of your job at Harvard that you feel enrich or inform who you are as an individual at Harvard?
Being a working parent has been an amazing learning experience for me. I have so much
respect for those who care for others, be it a parent, sibling, child or patient. I think the experience of being responsible for the well-being of another person is a lesson in empathy, patience and humility. Those are all amazing qualities to bring to work, and qualities that are often undervalued in the modern workplace.
 

What is the significance of the object you brought with you to the photo shoot?
The object I'm holding is a copy of the 2013-14 HMS Dean's Annual Report. I recently transitioned into a new job at HMS, but in my former position, a large part of my work included photo management, photo research, and art direction on photo shoots. I coordinated with researchers at Mass Eye and Ear to get the photo used on the cover of the report and to me it's more than just a great picture. This image is a reminder of the hard work, creativity and generosity of time that so many wonderful people contributed in order to create this photo, and all the photos featured in the report.
