Bernard Chang is holding up a framed lithograph of a brain.

What is the significance of the object you brought with you to the photo shoot?
My object is a color lithograph produced in Paris in 1867 demonstrating the anatomy of the human brain. It is one of a series of such pieces that are displayed in my office. I love it partly just for its aesthetics, as a wonderful piece to enjoy visually, but these prints were originally created for very important educational purposes -- to teach medical students about what the brain looks like on the inside. I first became involved in medical education almost 25 years ago by teaching neuroanatomy to a small group of Harvard medical students (using more contemporary resources of course!), and I have always appreciated the historical perspective.
