What inspires or motivates you in your role at HMS/HSDM?
My sense of continuity, of being part of a larger whole informs my role at HMS. This comes with acknowledging an individual and shared past, an awareness of the present and an unyielding faith in the future. Connections to my family (from great, great grandparents that were slaves to grandchildren that hold tomorrow), to colleagues and friends and the larger community guide, enrich and inspire my commitment to social justice and equity. It is in this spirit that I work with others toward ensuring that HMS/HSDM is an institution where potential is recognized and opportunity is made available. I have a strong belief that together we can create change; together we can improve health locally, nationally and globally; together we can make a difference.

What are you most proud of about your work at HMS/HSDM?
I have had the privilege of working with amazing colleagues within and outside of the walls of HMS/HSD to create spaces for talented, bright, enthusiastic individuals to have an opportunity to learn, explore, grow and realize their potential. We have helped them in their journey toward finding and fulfilling their own individual purpose. What more could you ask?

What is the significance of the object you are holding in the photograph?
The objects are pictures of family members from my great grandmother, Delia, to my grandchildren, Layla and Carter. They inspire, ground me, and give me the strength to persevere.
